Scott Manning and the StingerScott Manning

Scott Manning passed away
June 16, 2006 in Ottawa, during a practice display flight.

Our
thoughts and prayers go out to his family and friends.

This
web site will be maintained in memory of Scott.

Scott Manning
buil
t
and piloted the Stinger. Originally, Scott put his aviation career on hold to play professional football. While playing football, Scott weighed over 290 pounds and could bench press over 500 pounds, 50 pounds more than the weight of the Stinger!

After retiring from football, Scott returned to aviation. He found flying aerobatics demanding and highly enjoyable. Scott's callsign is "Kato," a nickname he received while playing football (think Green Hornet).

Scott held a commercial pilot's license and flew numerous types of general aviation aircraft, including some of the most advanced aerobatic aircraft.

Scott was the tallest BD5J pilot in the world. At 6'3" tall and 215 pounds, it is hard to believe that someone so big could fit into a jet so small.
